Aug. 19, 2009 — The opening verse of Reba McEntire's "Strange" makes reference to a chocolate binge, and that lyric played a big role in the video to the song, which finds the singer in bed indulging a sugar fetish and tossing tissues.
Sounds fun, eh? As it turns out, the multiple retakes took their toll on Reba, whose tastebuds are turned off to cocoa products for now.
"I don't think I've had a piece of chocolate since that video shoot," she told Suzanne Alexander on the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "At first [during the shoot], I did eat it, 'cause I was hungry. And you take one bite and then you kinda [chew] and eat it, then the next bite, the next bite and the next bite. And after a while, all those Kleenexes that are aroun d me, there's about 40 pieces that are stuck underneath the quilt. It was awful!"
But it made for a good video. "Strange" ranked No. 9 on last weekend's edition of GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown, and Reba will be a guest on the show this weekend. Her new album, Keep On Loving You, was released Tuesday.
