No Aliases for Kenny Chesney

July 20, 2009 — Hank Williams did it with his "Luke the Drifter" character; Garth Brooks did it with his "Chris Gaines" project — but you'll never find Kenny Chesney using an alter ego in the studio.
"God, no," he tells Gibson.com. "If I make a record it will have my name on it. I'm not going to wear a wig and I'm not going to use a fake name."
Kenny also tells the website he feels a sense of artistic freedom now that he's released his Greatest Hits II CD. He may even scale things back a bit one day. "I'm still going to make records with a lot of guitars but I do want to make an acoustic record someday," he says. "You can't always be afforded those luxuries when you have your foot on the gas pedal like I have it now. In that sense it's good to get that portion behind me. Because maybe now I can lift that foot up a little bit."
