July 16, 2009 — Jamie Foxx is an Oscar-winning actor and a successful R&B artist. But he tells Nashville paper The Tennessean that his appearance alongside Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn on the George Strait: ACM Artist of the Decade All Star Concert wasn't that unusual.
Jamie, who hails from Terrell, Tx, has fond memories of George from his childhood.
"Growing up in Texas, man, I remember being 14 and trying to go see George Strait at (Terrell night spot) Lee's Silver Fox, over there on the other side of the tracks," Jamie says. "(I'd be) the only little black kid going over there. Years later, I run into George Strait at the Country Music Awards and tell him about that. He actually remembered going to Lee's Silver Fox."
