Billy Currington Goes Crazy on "Top 20"

Billy Currington stopped by the Top 20 Country Countdown set to chat with host Nan Kelley.

July 10, 2009 — "God is great/Beer is good/And people are crazy." Billy Currington's current single is one of the most unique songs on the charts, and Billy stops by on this week's edition of Top 20 Country Countdown to chat about the song and the video with GAC host Nan Kelley.

Billy picked it up from songwriter Bobby Braddock, whose unique point of view contributed to such hits as Toby Keith's "I Wanna Talk About Me," Tracy Lawrence's "Texas Tornado" and George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today."

In the meantime, "People Are Crazy" — currently at No. 2 on the Top 20 — has become an important part of Billy's concert set list, which he's throwing around at some unique and/or surprising venues these days. After opening for Sugarland two weeks ago in Roanoke, he d id a last-minute bonus concert at a local club that had fans lined up for blocks. He'll do another club date later this month in Manhattan, playing Joe's Pub July 30 during the Country Music Association's fifth annual songwriter series at the venue. Bobby Braddock won't be there, but some other very successful writers will: Bob DiPiero ("You Can't Take The Honky Tonk Out Of The Girl"), Jason Sellers ("Strange") and Keith Follese ("The Way You Love Me").
