June 16, 2009 — "I keep my Christmas lights on on my front porch all year long." So Gretchen Wilson sang in her 2004 hit "Redneck Woman."
Miranda Lambert reintroduced Christmas-light imagery in her current single "Dead Flowers," and it turns out that she is the embodiment of the redneck woman at the heart of Gretchen's song.
"My Christmas lights are still up, and have been since last Christmas," Miranda says. "So the good thing was I didn't have to re-string 'em this Christmas. They were already up! It's celebration all year round. How 'bout that?"
Not that there's a celebration involved in the lights on "Dead Flowers." In fact, in the lyrics, the string of lights all burned out by January.
By the time Christmas rolls around this year, Miranda will have her third album on the market. "Dead Flowers" is the lead single from Revolution, now pegged for a Sept. 29=2 0release.
