Martina 'Fesses Up On Balancing Act

From music writer Peter Cooper:
Martina McBride spent last week down in the Bahamas, vacationing with her family on a sunny beach.
This week, though, Martina is in New York City, appearing on a bevy of television shows while promoting Shine, an album that'll be released Tuesday. Tuesday morning, she'll be on NBC's Today show. Wednesday morning she'll be … back on the TToday show, and also on the syndicated Live With Regis and Kelly. And she'll soon be appearing on Chelsea Lately, the Ellen Degeneres Show, Rachael Ray and pretty much any other program that isn't Meet The Press or Eastbound & Down.
What she won't be doing is heading out this spring to tour. Martina's next U.S. tour won't begin until November.
"Summer isn't necessarily the best time to tour, but I've always done summers because the kids were out of school then, so they could come out on the road with us," she said.
Martina and husband John McBride have three daughters, and they've done their best to prioritize the children's welfare above career interests and industry hubbub. This has been well-chronicled in numerous interviews with Martina: Her questioner usually says something like, "Is it hard to juggle being a mother with being a country star?" and Martina usually responds with, "Oh, it's no big deal."
Well, now she 's finally coming clean.
"Being pregnant, touring, making records … I look back on what I was trying to do, and it was crazy," she said. "It was a big deal."
