March 18, 2009 — Faith Hill has a pair of dates slated this summer at the Hollywood Bowl, Garth Brooks has a live musical performance set for television and Willie Nelson is off the road again, thanks to some health issues.
Those are just three pieces of the massive amount of live performance news currently in circulation:
• Faith is booked for July 17 and 18 at the Bowl, a historic Los Angeles amphitheater that ranks among the most prestigious venues in the country. Faith's website doesn't list the performances, and Pollstar shows no other dates for her, suggesting they might be the only concerts she does this year. David Campbell, the arranger for her Joy To The World Christmas album, will conduct the orchestra.
• Jewel is likewise slated for the Hollywood Bowl July 24 and 25. She joins Michael Feinstein and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra for The Art of the S ong, a concert that pays homage — according to the Bowl website — to the "greatest treasures in the Great American Songbook."
• Garth will be the musical guest on Thursday night's edition of "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno." Garth did a medley on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in the run-up to Barack Obama's inauguration, making Thursday's show a bit of a reunion: The Los Angeles Times noted Obama will become the first president to appear on the talk show while in office.
• Willie has postponed a half-dozen shows due to illness, Pollstar reported. The concerts, which were originally scheduled from Tuesday through Sunday, would have taken place this week in Choctaw, Miss.; Marksville, La.; Springdale, Ark.; and three Florida locations: Clearwater, Melbourne and Panama City.

• Kid Rock, who toured last summer with Lynyrd Skynyrd, joins the boys from Jacksonville again this year for 22 shows. First up on the Rock & Rebels Tour, according to USA Today: West Palm Beach, Fla., on June 26.
• Jamie O'Neal has been added to a March 24 benefit at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. Titled The Stars Go Blue For Colon Cancer, the show already boasted Vince Gill, Amy Grant and Hal Ketchum. GAC's Nan Kelley will host the concert, conceived by her Grammy-nominated husband, Charlie Kelley.
• "Small20Town USA" singer Justin Moore made his Grand Ole Opry debut Friday night, and he's not ashamed to admit he and his dad cried together about the milestone over the phone. "I grew up on the music that was made famous by all the stars of the Opry," Justin says. "It has been a long, long time since I've been nervous to play music, but I get nervous just saying 'I'm playing the Grand Ole Opry!' I can die happy!"
• George Jones, Lee Greenwood, Aaron Tippin and Clint Black are all scheduled to perform a free concert Saturday in Dothan, Ala., as the Country Crossing entertainment project celebrates groundbreaking for several establishments. Titled the Jones Jam, the show accompanies the first digs for Tracy Lawrence BBQ, the Lorrie Morgan Café, the John Anderson Buffet and Darryl Worley's Worley Bird Café.
• The Academy of Country Music presents two days of free shows in Las Vegas at the Fremont Street Experience in the run-up to the ACM's 44th annual awards. The April 3 and 4 shows will feature LeAnn Rimes, Kellie Pickler, Jason Aldean, the Zac Brown Band, Jake Owen, Julianne Hough, Matt Stillwell and Gloriana.
• The 17th annual Tin Pan South celebration will feature live performances by some 350 songwriters in at least nine different Nashville clubs over five days, March 31-April 4. Among the artists listed on the Tin Pan South schedule: Trent Tomlinson, Ki x Brooks, Bryan White, Ira Dean, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Michael McDonald, Carolyn Dawn Johnson and the Warren Brothers.
