Dierks Bentley Rethinks the Road

March 16, 2009 — Dierks Bentley fueled much of his music with a drifter attitude, particularly in his hits "Lot Of Leavin' Left To Do" and "Free And Easy (Down The Road I Go)."
Dierks backed that up by being one of the hardest-working touring acts in country music, but fatherhood has tempered his viewpoint a bit. His wife, Cassidy, delivered their first daughter five months ago, and little Evie's made it more difficult for Dierks to get through the time away from home.
"I love playing that role of being dad, and I've missed it in the last five weeks," he told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "I've been gone a lot, you know. It's tough always talking about your daughter but then not actually getting to be there. It kinda gets annoying after a while 'cause it's like, 'She's so great! Yeah, it's awesome, and I =0 Ahaven't seen her in three weeks.' I enjoy being [in Nashville] and being dad and getting to hang out with her. And she's a great girl. She's so, really funny, and she loves her dad and so she's fun to be around."

Appropriately, Dierks is a little more home-bound these days than he used to be. He's got just six concerts slated for the month of April. But there's a major trip on the way in May. He tours Australia for the first time in his career, opening for Brooks & Dunn during a five-show run that kicks off May 1 in Perth.
